US STOCKS: A late session slide took a lot of the steam out of stocks Thursday
US PRESS: The WSJ says the Fed "shocked" banker by approving a proposal that would force even the smallest lenders to comply with the elaborate international bank-capital standards known as Basel III.
EUROPEAN STOCKS: Major European bourses are seen trading higher Friday, paring gains seen in the previous session after Wall St reversed course. Spreadbetters Cantor Index are calling the FTSE down 28, the DAX down 37 and the CAC down 32.
HONG KONG STOCKS: The Hang Seng Index ends morning down 0.41% at 18601.76
CHINA STOCKS: The Shanghai Composite Index ends morning up 0.14% at 2296.24
AUSSIE BONDS: Aussie govvies end the week with some light short-covering, helping yields push lower. The yield on the 2Y was last 5.5 bps lower at 2.425%, with the benchmark 3Y at 2.325%, lower by 5.5 bps. The yield on the 10Y was lower by 2.5 bps at 3.055%, leaving the 2/10-yr spread 3 bps steeper at 63 bps. The 10-yr US/Aussie spread was last at 144 bps.
AUSTRALIA: RBA Governor Glenn Stevens in his Q&A following his speech says Australia still gently moving forward in terms of growth. And the RBA learns from what banks do with their lending and deposit rates, and makes further adjustment with cash rate if needed.
