
CFTC: Speculative accounts trimmed their net euro short position and added to
their net yen short position as of July 8, according to U.S. CFTC data, released
Friday. The CFTC's Commitments of Traders report - non-commercial, futures-only
section, excluding options - showed speculators had a net euro short position of
-59,265 contracts as of July 8, compared to the prior week's net short of
-60,776 contracts and the net long of +32,551 contracts, seen as per May 6. Spec
accounts had a net yen short of -66,375 contracts as of July 8, which compared
to last week's net yen short of -58,686 contracts and the net short of -99,356
contracts seen March 11, which was the largest net yen short since January 21
(-114,961 contracts). The euro closed at $1.3612 and dollar-yen at Y101.57 on
July 8, which compared to levels late Friday at $1.3608 and Y101.34.
