ITALY AUCTION PREVIEW: Italy's Dipartimento del Tesoro conducts its mid-month
auctions, which includes sale of a new benchmark 3-year 2.25% 2016 BTP on
Thursday for between E3.0bln-E4.0bln, tap 15-year 4.75% 2028 BTP for between
E1.5bln-E2.0bln and tap its floater June 2017 CCTeu for between E1.0bln-E1.5bln.
The auction comes amid continued political uncertainty and following weak demand
at the recent month-end 5-year & 10-year BTP auctions. In addition, news that
Italy the Italian government has approved a decree authorizing the payment of
E40bln additional debt accumulated by public sector firms and financial
intermediaries until the end of 2012. Grey market is implying new 3-year 2.25%
2016 BTP is trading at 2.37% or spread of 15bps vs 2.75% Dec 2015 BTP. The
current 2.75% 2015 BTP The 15-year 4.75% 2028 BTP trades at 4.72% and recent
steepening of the Italian yield curve has cheapened this issue. At the last
auction on Mar 13 for E2.0bln it was sold at an average yield of 4.90% and then
covered 1.28 times. The floater June 2017 CCTeu was last sold on Mar 13 for
E1.03bln at an average yield of 2.95% and covered 1.50 times. Auction results
are due at around 0905GMT.


ITALY: Italy 10-year yield spread is trading 1bps tighter vs Bunds at +303bps
ahead of benchmark 3-/15-year BTP and floater 2017 CCTeu bond auctions for up to
E7.5bln size.
