GERMAN AUCTION PREVIEW: The Deutsche Finanzagentur sells 2-year benchmark 0.25%
June 2016 Schatz issue Wednesday for up to E5bln. The auction comes after last
week's technically uncovered new 5-year Bobl auction. Grey market pricing is
implying the issue trades at 0.11% mid-yield or a roll of +0.5bps versus the
current 0.25% Mar 2016 Schatz. Whilst seen as rich, demand is seen underpinned
by continued speculation of further ECB rate cut next month. Moreover, historic
results have been solid for the 2-year Schatz. At the last re-opening of the
0.25% Mar 2016 Schatz on Apr 9, the DFA alloted E3.545bln at avg yield 0.17% and
then covered 1.7 times, with Buba retaining 11.4% of the sale. Prior to this on
Mar 12, the DFA alloted E3.318bln at avg yield 0.15%, an impressive cover 2.6
and Buba retaining 17.1%. At the inaugural auction on Feb 12, the DFA allotted
E4.096bln at avg yield 0.11%, covered 2.1 times with the Buba retaining 18.1% of
the sale. The average cover ratio for the last 4 auctions is an impressive 2.15
times. This issue is expected to be reopened again on June 11 and July 9 for
E4bln each issue before a new Sep 2016 Schatz is launched on Aug 20 for up to
E5bln. Auction results are due shortly after bidding closes at 0930GMT.

SCHATZ: Below are banks views on 2-year benchmark 0.25% June 2016 Schatz auction
Wednesday for up to E5bln:
- Citi estimates fair value of the new 2-year benchmark at around 1bp over Mar
2016 Schatz. "Going forward, we remain constructive on the German front-end over
the medium-term and expect the 2-year yield to reach 0.05% by Q4. For today's
auction, 2-year Germany offers attractive value vs France for investors looking
to move up the credit curve."
- Unicredit says the yield today should be about 5bp lower compared to previous
sale at 0.17%. "As France will also sell 2-year bonds tomorrow, some pressure at
the short end of core curves may arise."
- Credit Agricole says "with the front-end of core yield curves being floored by
current ECB policy rates, the RV of the new bond is difficult to get too excited
about. But, one can view the bond as an option on an ECB rate cut, which will
lower the floor on rates, particularly if they cut the deposit rate."
