CFTC: CFTC: Speculative accounts increased their net euro long position and
decreased their net yen short positions as of May 6, according to U.S. CFTC
data, released Friday. The CFTC's COT report - non-commercial, futures-only
section, excluding options - showed speculators had a net euro long position of
+32,551 contracts as of May 6, compared to the prior week's net long of +25,734
contracts. The net long of +52,991 contracts, seen the week of March 18, was the
largest net euro long seen since Oct. 29 (+70,617 contracts). Speculative
accounts had a net yen short of -60,728 contracts as of May 6, which compared to
the prior week's net yen short of -70,352 contracts and the net short of -99,356
contracts seen March 11, which was the largest net yen short since January 21
(-114,961 contracts). The euro closed at $1.3928 and dollar-yen at Y101.68 on
May 6, which compared to levels late Friday at $1.3753 and Y101.79.
